What does the public think?

In their initial consultation exercise, NET received 169 written objections to the Clifton via Wilford route.

But there were only 2 objections to the CQD route.

A petition containing over 1,500 signatures opposing development of the CW corridor for a tram route, was sent to Kenneth Clarke QC MP, Rushcliffe Borough Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.

Local residents also sent hundreds of letters to Alistair Darling, the Secretary of State for Transport. The letters objected to the CW route on both economic and environmental grounds. The Department of Transport was clearly unable to cope with their post-bag because they told ENT they would not be able to respond individually. They added that “Ministers are aware of your groups concerns and we have taken note of them and they will be taken into account in the assessment process once the promoters submit their final appraisal documents”
