A clean and frequent service is needed
to attract passengers?

ENT have no doubt that users are attracted to a frequent, reliable and clean public transport service. The question here is will such a service provide the passenger numbers required and is the tram the only solution?

Let us just look at the Number 10 bus service that runs through a similar residential area close to Compton Acres. Buses run every 10 minutes and they are clean and modern (less than 2 years old). It offers a fast route to the city centre and these buses can kneel down to allow wheelchair/pushchair access - its great.

Compton Acres users even walk past the number 9 'stops' to use this service, yet we don't see anywhere near 3600 people each day using this service from this area.

So how will the CW route achieve the residential patronage claimed, and surely a good frequent bus service at a fraction of the cost will be a more effective public transport solution for this area.
