NET are the development team responsible for the promotion of a Nottingham Light Rail System.

They consist of a group of project engineers, and officers drawn from both Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Councils. They are funded from the public purse, and as such should provide a system that fulfills and respects the needs of ALL Nottinghamshire residents, both environmentally and for its transport requirements.

It is their job to put in a tram network and to sell it to the public. They have the backing of Nottingham City Council and the services of a full time Public Relations Officer.

NET have a high level of autonomy, only have a responsibilty to the City and County Councils, and have no direct public accountability.

This is a Labour motivated project but it does not have cross-party support.
