Following proposals by Nottingham Express Transit (NET) to run the CW tram route from Clifton to the City, the Environment Not Trams (ENT) group was formed in July 2001 as a result of a meeting of concerned residents from both Nottingham City and County areas of Wilford, Ruddington Lane, Silverdale and Compton Acres.

ENT:

• are voluntary supporters
• are funded by donations
• are non-political
• meet informally on a regular basis
• are NOT anti-tram
• keen to protect the local environment
• are FOR alternative routes and transport solutions

ENT is not an anti-development group and want to see Nottingham thrive and progress so that it remains a great place to live and provides ongoing work and recreational facilities for future generations.

ENT also recognise the need to reduce traffic congestion around Nottingham.

ENT are keen to see cost effective solutions to transport management and city development in harmony with minimal local impact on protected environments.
