The proposed route is an old railway alignment
so its OK for a tram isn't it?

Virtually all the families and homes that align the proposed CW route purchased their properties because one of the significant features was the amenity of the Nature Trail. Few remember or have known it as a working railway.

Areas that were originally not planned for homes whilst the railway was in use, were sold at a premium price as residential land once the line had become obselete. The number of homes adjacent to the route has significantly increased since the trains finished.

Rushcliffe Borough Council has spent tens of thousands of pounds in maintaining the old alignment as a nature trail. They designated it a recreational open space and gave the clear understanding that it would not be used as a transport corridor. Public signs were erected stating the importance of the flora and fauna to be found.

The nature trails' importance has been established over thirty years.

Surely this should not be destroyed overnight.
