Trams are as 'quiet as a milk float' aren't they?

The proposed trams are 100 feet long, weigh 50 tonnes and travel at speeds up to 50mph. An independent consultant, Dr Ross Coles, has measured the noise from trams in Sheffield and can find no difference between the noise of a tram and that of a bus when stopping and accelerating.

NET have no information on noise or vibration levels of the proposed trams and will not specify what maximum level will be permitted.

NET have just begun noise measurements on sections of Line 1 and local residents are already complaining.

Properties aligning the modern Manchester Tram System have been given the dubious title of some of the noisiest houses in Britain!
