The routes as originally proposed by NET
to serve Clifton and traffic from the A453 are either via the old railway
alignment through Compton Acres and Wilford, a designated Site of Importance
for Nature Conservation(CW Route), or via Queens Drive, the major employment
corridor to the south of Nottingham(CQD Route).
ENT maintains the Queens Drive option makes the most sense for the residents
of Nottingham for both now and in the future.
A tram journey is only made by someone who has easy access to a tram
stop, and also when that tram takes them to their destination. The CW
route really only has one destination for passengers from Clifton - the
City Centre - and NO interim destinations. The CQD route on the other
hand offers multiple destinations in the form of businesses and retail
parks, not only to people from Clifton, but also to the rest of the tram
network.
It doesn't take a genius to work it out - CQD makes
sense!!!
